Description
Latourell Falls is the closest Columbia Gorge waterfall to Portland, and it's quite an introduction. There's not a lot of water here, but it falls a long way. The thin flow, sometimes blown on the wind, accentuates the height. The columnar basalt at the base of the flow and the bright yellow lichen are distinctive features that highlight any photo. Latourell Falls is easy to reach in any time of year. Photos here are easy and plentiful. Winter pictures are particularly dramatic.
