Regulations, Facilities, etc.

  • No fee for day use
  • Dogs on leash (Because of the mesh wire tread on the upper half of the trail, this hike is not recommended for dogs.)
  • Restrooms, picnic area, information kiosk, primitive campground (fee)

Driving Directions

NOTICE: The Saddle Mountain Trail closed in August 2021 due to a broken footbridge. The trail is also damaged in several places and requires significant repair work. No reopening date has been announced.

From the merger of Highway 217 with Highway 26, drive east on Highway 26 for 59.5 miles (44.4 miles past the turnoff for Highway 6 , Banks and Tillamook).

Turn right for Saddle Mountain State Natural Area. This narrow, bumpy two-lane road winds 7.2 miles up to a parking area. The trail is on the right side.
