Driving Directions
From Portland:
Drive Highway 26 east from Gresham just over 100 miles .
Merge with Highway 97 in Madras, and drive 20.3 miles south.
Just before you enter Terrebonne, turn right on Lower Bridge Way.
Drive 10.6 miles on this paved rural road, and make a left turn onto Holmes Road.
Drive 2.2 miles on Holmes and turn right on FR 6360 at a sign for the Alder Springs Trail.
You will drive 4.0 miles on gravel that progressively deteriorates, first passing through a stretch of private property and then a green gate that is closed December through March.
Turn right at a sign for Alder Springs and go down a narrow, rocky spur 0.7 miles to the trailhead.
From Bend:
From the junction with Highway 97, drive Highway 20 northwest for 17.1 miles.
Turn right onto Cloverdale Road and drive 3.5 miles to the four-way junction with Highway 126 (McKenzie Highway).
Turn right here and drive 2.0 miles to make a left turn onto Holmes Road.
After 1.5 miles, Holmes Road makes a sharp right at a mini-junction.
Keep on Holmes Road for another 5.5 miles.
At the 7-mile marker, turn left on FR 6360 at a sign for the Alder Springs Trail.
You will drive 4.0 miles on gravel that progressively deteriorates, first passing through a green gate that is closed December through March, and then a stretch of private property.
Turn right at a sign for Alder Springs and go down a narrow, rocky spur 0.7 miles to the trailhead.
