Drive 4.4 miles and make a left onto paved FR 4696.
Go 0.8 miles and turn left onto gravel FR 4697, signposted HIGH CLEARANCE ONLY.
Wind up for 4.7 miles on this potholed road to a Y-junction and turn left.
Drive another 2.1 miles to the junction for the Elk Lake Campground.
Keep right and continue up 0.4 miles to the Bagby Trailhead. The road is washed out just beyond here, so you should turn around and squeeze in a parking spot on this narrow, very rough road.
