Description
Several trails disseminate from Beachie Saddle, which until the 1980s was a trailhead. In fact, FR 4697 led over the saddle (becoming FR 2209) to connect Detroit with the mining operations in the Opal Creek Area. The Battle Ax Mountain Trail #3340 comes down here, and the Battle Ax Creek Trail #3339 follows the old road bed down towards Jawbone Flats.
Also here is the eastern terminus of the Beachie Trail #3341. An unsigned trail to the left of the Beachie Trail takes you up a steep slope and the knife-edged northeast ridge of Mount Beachie, but there is a lot of exposure about half way up.
Compared to the past, there are limited views from Beachie Saddle.
