Description
Big Slide Lake is a secluded, very shallow body of water, about four acres in all, in the heart of the Bull of the Woods Wilderness. It is most conveniently accessed via the Dickey Creek Trail #553, but it can also be reached from the ridges above. The lake nestles in a bowl to the west of Big Slide Mountain and is almost surrounded, except for the Dickey Creek exit channel, by high ridges. If you explore just to the south of the lake, you will find a small lake at the head of the valley.
Big Slide Lake supports a large population of newts and trout can be fished in its waters. There are a handful of campsites around the lake.
