Buck Point Viewpoint

From Oregon Hikers Field Guide

(Redirected from Buck Point)
Table Mountain and Greenleaf Peak from the viewpoint under the powerlines (bobcat)

Description

The viewpoint is the end of the maintained trail and a waypoint on a longer trail, depending on how you look at it. It's the end of the Buck Point Trail #439, an official maintained trail. There are some great views of the Columbia River, unfortunately marred somewhat by the buzz of power lines. Still, it's the power lines that make the views possible in the first place, so we shouldn't gripe too much. The location is a good family hike destination, especially for those staying in the Eagle Creek Campground.

Just beyond the viewpoint, there's a trail heading into the woods, marked only by a "Trail not maintained" sign. This is the notorious Ruckel Ridge Trail. Beyond here, it's for the experienced hikers only.
