Cedar Grove-Elderberry Trail Junction

From Oregon Hikers Field Guide

Junction, Cedar Grove and Elderberry Cutoff Trails, Powell Butte (bobcat)

Description

There are actually two junctions for the Elderberry Trail on the Cedar Grove Trail. The lower one (depicted) is unmarked and is a short, but legitimate, cutoff trail: take this trail if you are doing the Powell Butte Loop Hike clockwise. The upper junction is the signed one.

The Elderberry Trail is a a meandering path that begins at the 148th Avenue Trailhead, climbs to Holgate Lane, takes a series of steps up to Pipeline Lane, and then loops along the western fringe of the Powell Butte Nature Park, passing the Raymond Street Trailhead. The Cedar Grove Trail begins at the Springwater Corridor and rises up a lush gully towards the summit meadow of Powell Butte.
