Description
NOTE: The following description is for interest only. At its west end, near this junction, the Wizard Trail connects to trails that are on private land in the Coyote Canyon area. All of those trails are now off limits to the public as of the Forest Service's 2011 Master Plan for the area.
The Wizard Trail offers a wonderful scramble up the wall itself. The junction is somewhat difficult to find from the Coyote Canyon Trail. It is located about 2 miles uphill from the trailhead in a Douglas-fir plantation area. When you start seeing many bright-colored "property boundary" signs you are getting close. If you are heading uphill on the canyon trail, you will drop down into a hollow in the fir trees and then come back uphill. Look for a faint trail on your right lined with the logs. There's also a distinctive tree base at the junction shown in the picture below. The trail may be marked with a rock cairn. The coordinates are N 45 42.971, W 121 25.052.
