Deadwood Camp

From Oregon Hikers Field Guide

At the junction in 2018: Deadwood Trail on the left, Gorton Creek Trail on the right (bobcat)
The former Deadwood Camp in May (Jerry Adams)

Description

The area around the Gorton Creek Trail's junction with the Deadwood Trail was severely burned during the 2017 Eagle Creek Fire. There is no signage remaining, but in 2018 trail crews maintained the Gorton Creek and Deadwood Trails to this point.

Deadwood Camp has been obliterated by burned brush and fallen trees. It was a nondescript campsite on the Gorton Creek Trail, 0.8 miles past (southeast) the Ridge Cutoff junction and just above the junction with the Deadwood Trail on Grays Creek.

The creek runs year-round but it can be a mere trickle after mid-summer. It is the only easy source of water for miles in any direction.
