Description
Dollar Lake is nestled below Dollar Ridge, between Dollar Pass and Tenderfoot Pass. From the lake, there are splendid open views to Aneroid Mountain to the east and Petes Point to the west. One also looks down to the East Fork Wallowa River valley and the Bonneville Mountain ridge line. This small circular tarn is one of the highest lakes in Oregon.
There are a couple of campsites on the east side of the lake. Behind the lake, on the slope of Dollar Ridge, there is a clump of vegetation which screens a private campsite. Dollar Lake offers rather stagnant water late in the summer, still drinkable with a filter, but it may more palatable to seek the pure spring water in the basin directly to the lake's west.
