Driving Directions
From Portland: Drive I-5 South to Exit 294 for 99W, Tigard and Newberg.
Keep on 99 West through Tigard, Sherwood, Newberg and Dundee for 22.9 miles and then turn left onto Highway 18 for Dayton and the Oregon Coast.
Drive 38.2 miles on Highway 18 through Grand Ronde and Rose Lodge and turn left onto Bear Creek Road just past a sign pointing to Drift Creek Covered Bridge.
Drive 1.9 miles on paved Bear Creek Road to where it becomes a wide gravel road
NOTE: from this point you will be on a one-lane winding road used by log trucks. Drive slowly, especially around corners!
Drive 1.3 miles uphill on gravel to a junction at a crest. Go straight to where the paved surface resumes just beyond the junction.
Drive 1.2 miles to a fork where a signed gravel road heads to the right. Stay left and on the paved road.
Drive 1.2 miles to another fork, both roads area paved. Take the right fork, heading slightly downhill.
Drive 4.2 miles on paved road to the large, developed trailhead located on left side of the road. Ignore several gravel spurs along this section.
From the south: Drive through Depoe Bay and continue north. Just past the Salishan golf course, turn right on Drift Creek Road. In a quarter mile, angle right on South Drift Creek Road. Turn left on Forest Service Road 17 and drive up for ten miles to the trailhead. This is a long, slow climb.
