Description
Elk Lake is a large 65-acre lake nestled below Mount Beachie and Battle Ax. Technically, this is in the Mt. Hood National Forest, but the campground here is administered by the Willamette National Forest. Motorized watercraft are not permitted on the lake.
Camp here as a base for hiking into the Bull of the Woods and Opal Creek Wilderness. Weekends in the summer may be busy, so get here early. See the Elk Lake Junction Trailhead for directions.
