Description
This is the second bridge on the Eagle Creek Trail. Fern Creek is in a pretty deep side canyon here, and the bridge spans a narrow chasm as the creek tumbles below. The walls near the trail here are lined with licorice ferns making the source of the name obvious.
The Fern Creek Bridge was heavily damaged in the 2017 Eagle Creek Fire, and a new bridge was airlifted into place by helicopter in October 2019. The Eagle Creek Trail remained closed, however, until 2021.
