Description
The summit of Cape Kiwanda's Great Dune affords stunning views north to Cape Lookout along the strand fronting Tierra del Mar. The local geology includes the dune itself, basically a pile of beach sand combed by prevailing winds over the colorful sandstone layers of Cape Kiwanda. Haystack Rock looms out beyond the breakers. You may witness the famous Kiwanda dories putting out to sea or riding the waves in. On a clear day, Cascade Head is visible to the south.
