Hamilton Mountain-Hardy Creek Trail Junction

From Oregon Hikers Field Guide

Junction, Hamilton Mt. and Hardy Creek Trails (bobcat)
"Dad, let's go this way!!" (old sign) (Steve Hart)

Description

This junction marks the spot where hikers have the choice to continue to the right, up the more difficult, steeper, but shorter option up Hamilton Mountain, or instead go left up the longer, easier trail. Many hikers choose to make a loop out of it. The difficult side admittedly boasts much better views. Soon after the junction your path opens up to the expanse of the Columbia River Gorge, and affords a great vantage point of the tall, distinctive basaltic columns on the southern face of Hamilton Mountain. Meanwhile, the 'easy' choice ascends slowly alongside (but out of view of) Hardy Creek for a ways, then merges into a forest road.
