Fees and Regulations

  • No fees
  • This trail and trailhead are closed Jan 1st-July 15th to protect sensitive species.

Driving Directions

NOTICE: The access road (FR 1861) to the trailhead is closed due to a slide. The trail is not closed but now can only be accessed from the Knights Park Trailhead for Cascade Head.

Drive Highway 99W south towards McMinnville and turn left for Highways 18 and 233 for the Oregon Coast.

After 6.7 miles, keep left on the McMinnville Bypass and Highway 18W.

Drive for 47.0 miles on Highway 18 through Grand Ronde and past Otis, then bear right for Highway 101N, Neskowin, Tillamook, and Astoria.

In 0.2 miles, go right on Highway 101 North.

Drive 3.8 miles up onto forested Cascade Head and turn left onto an unsigned gravel road (The gate is open July 16th - December 31st).

Keep left at a fork after 2.5 miles.

In 0.9 miles, pass the Nature Conservancy Trailhead on the left.

It’s another 0.8 miles from this point to the end of the road and the trailhead for Harts Cove.
