Driving Directions
Driving I-205, take Exit 12 for Highway 224 and 212E, Clackamas and Estacada. Head east after exiting.
From the traffic light at the east end of the freeway overpass, it’s 3.3 miles to a junction where you bear right for Carver and Estacada on Highway 224E.
Drive 10.9 miles on Highway 224 and then make a left turn onto Wildcat Mountain Drive for Eagle Fern Park.
After 0.2 miles, reach a Stop sign at the four-way intersection with Eagle Creek Road.
Continue straight here on Wildcat Mountain Drive for 1.8 miles before bearing right on Eagle Fern Road.
Keep on Eagle Fern Road, which becomes SE George Road, for 9.1 miles. Make a right turn onto SE Harvey Road.
Drive 1.9 miles on this road (After 0.3 miles, it becomes potholed gravel mixed with mud - some clearance is good), ignoring roads to the right and left that are mostly gated (i.e. Do not go right after 1.2 miles at what appears to be a better road - also gated), and keep right at a junction.
Drive another 0.5 miles – the road becomes BLM road 3-5E-13.4 – and see a pullout where the road forks three ways.
(The trail is down the middle fork, which if not blocked, you can drive down 0.4 miles to a landing, shortening the total hike distance by 0.8 miles. (To the left, the BLM road continues and to the right is a recent logging road.) Signage appeared here in 2018, but it has now disappeared.) NOTE: As of 2022, the road down to the logging landing has been blocked again, so you will have to walk down the road.
Note that access to this trailhead was closed for logging in 2016 (but reopened in 2017); circumstances can change again, however, (Weyerhaeuser has constructed a new landing at the beginning of the trail) so check before setting out; you may have to use the Douglas Trailhead to access the Eagle Creek Trail.
