Hidden Lake

From Oregon Hikers Field Guide

Hidden Lake (Gene Blick)
The shallow alpine lake is pretty buggy until late summer (Gene Blick)

Description

Hidden Lake is a small two-acre lake on the southwest side of Mount Hood; it is just off the Hidden Lake Trail. While there are no views of the mountain from the lake, it is a tranquil setting. Look for newts in the cold, clear shallow water and dragonflies performing their summertime rituals as they skim across the lake's surface. Mosquitoes can be bad from late spring to mid-summer. There is a campsite near the lake.

The Hidden Lake Trail goes across the outlet stream of the lake to join the Timberline Trail west of Timberline Lodge.
