Description

The High Bridge is one of only two places where the Eagle Creek Trail crosses Eagle Creek. The High Bridge is the first and more dramatic of the two, straddling the sheer-sided gorge some 120 feet above the narrow creek below. This section is the narrowest and fastest running section of Eagle Creek.

This is a popular hike destination along the Eagle Creek Trail. There is a small area on either side of the bridge where one could stop to rest, have a drink and refuel before continuing on or turning around. Overnight camping is permitted above the High Bridge.

The High Bridge was heavily damaged in the 2017 Eagle Creek Fire, and a new bridge was airlifted into place by helicopter in October 2019. The Eagle Creek Trail remained closed, however, until 2021.
