Driving Directions

From the last traffic light at the east end of Sandy (ARCO station), drive 30.8 miles through Zigzag, Rhododendron and Government Camp on Highway 26 to the junction with Highway 35.

Exit to the right and drive for 13.6 miles to make a right turn onto paved FR 44 for Lookout Mountain, Camp Baldwin, and Dufur.

Drive up 44 for 3.8 miles to Road 4410.

Turn right onto this gravel road and climb 4.8 miles past numerous spur roads to a T-intersection with Bennett Pass Road at the west edge of High Prairie.

Turn left, and travel a short distance to the trailhead parking area. There is restroom at the trailhead, but no water.

Fees / Regulations

  • Northwest Forest Pass (or America the Beautiful Pass) required.
  • Wilderness rules apply
  • Vault toilet, picnic table
