Description
Horse Rock Ridge is a series of steep bald meadows on south facing slopes located in the Cascade foothills area known as the Coburg Hills. Horse Rock is the geologic feature that the area was named after. The largest portion of this basalt dike formation resembles a trimmed horse's mane.
Most of the area is BLM land, with an adjacent easement from Weyerhaeuser that is managed in partnership with the Nature Conservancy. It is designated by the BLM as both a RNA (Research Natural Area) and ACEC (Area of Critical Environmental Concern).
