Description

Huffman Peak is a prominence on the high ridge that runs north of Siouxon Creek. It is about 60 feet lower than Siouxon Peak to the northeast on the same ridge. The two are connected by the Huffman Peak Trail, which skirts around the north side of the peak.

To reach the top, leave the trail at the saddle on the east side of the peak and find a user trail with intermittent tread that ascends along the ridge crest to the summit, an old lookout site. This perch affords 360 views from Mount Mitchell, Mount Saint Helens, Mount Rainier, Mount Adams, to Mount Hood and the deep uncut Siouxon valley below. The summit has rock gardens with wildflowers in the summer and the typical remnants of on old fire lookout - a few timbers, bits of melted glass, and rusty metal parts.
