Kalama Ski Trailhead

Driving Directions

Drive I-5 north to Exit 21 for Highway 503E, Woodland, and Cougar. Turn right after exiting onto Highway 503S.

Drive out of Woodland for 23.3 miles and, where 503S makes a sharp turn to the right, continue straight on the 503 Spur for Cougar and Mt. St. Helens.

After 4.5 miles, turn left for the Kalama Recreation Area.

Drive 8.5 miles up the Kalama River Road before bearing right on paved FR 8100.

Drive 2.5 miles on FR 8100, passing the Kalama Horse Camp and entering the Mt. St. Helens National Volcanic Monument, to pull off to the left in a large gravel parking area signposted for the Kalama Ski Trail.

  • Gate on FR 8100 closes in winter
