Driving Directions

From the junction of Highways 26 and 126 in Prineville, drive east on 3rd Street (Highway 26) for 44.3 miles.

Then turn left on Burnt Ranch Road for the Painted Hills, and go 5.6 miles.

Turn left on gravel Bear Creek Road and, passing the spur to the picnic area and restrooms, drive 1.8 miles, where you’ll see a sign for the Painted Cove Trail.

Keep left here, and travel another 1.1 miles to the Leaf Hill Trailhead.
