Lost Lake Trailhead

Fees / Regulations

  • $9 entry fee (Northwest Forest Pass not accepted)
  • Store, campground, picnic areas, boat rental
  • Alternate trailhead (no fee) is at Old Skyline North Trailhead

Driving Directions

Drive I-84 east and take Exit 62 for West Hood River and Westcliff Drive.

After exiting, turn right for West Hood River and Cascade Avenue. In 0.2 miles, turn right onto Mt. Adams Avenue.

Go 0.7 miles, as Mt. Adams Avenue becomes Wine Country Avenue and then Country Club Road, and then turn left onto Frankton Road.

Drive 1.2 miles, and turn left onto Belmont Drive.

In 0.6 miles, keep staright at an intersection to continue on Indian Creek Road.

After 1.1 miles, come to a crossroads, and continue straight on Tucker Road.

Proceed 1.0 miles, and turn right onto Highway 281 for Dee and Parkdale.

Continue for 6.3 miles, and then bear right onto Lost Lake Road for Dee and Lost Lake.

In 0.2 miles, bear left for Lost Lake.

Keep following Lost Lake Road for 4.9 miles.

Stay left at the junction for Wahtum Lake, and continue another 4.0 miles.

Make a sharp right at the junction with Lolo Pass Road (FR 18), and go 5.5 miles on winding Lost Lake Road (now FR 13).

At a four-way junction, keep straight for the Lost Lake Campground, and drive 0.4 miles, passing through the entrance kiosk and paying the entrance fee.

Turn right at a Stop sign, and go 0.3 miles, making a sharp left turn just past the general store. Day use parking is on the left and at the end; reserved campsite parking is on the right.


  • There's also a smaller parking area on your left after you turn at the Stop sign and just before the general store (about half of these are 15 minute slots).
