Main Ape Cave Entrance

From Oregon Hikers Field Guide

The main Ape Cave entrance (bobcat)

Description

The main entrance to Ape Cave is near an interpretive kiosk that details the geology and natural history of the lava tube as well as the origin of its name. Steel steps lead down into the lava tube via a wide opening. The lower cave is an easy walk with plenty of head room although there are side chambers to squeeze into. The upper cave is accessed by going north from the steps and is a more difficult exploration.
