Driving Directions

From Grants Pass:

Drive north on I-5 and take Exit 61 for Merlin. After exiting, turn left and keep left on Merlin Road for Merlin, Indian Mary Park, and Almeda Park.

Drive 22.4 miles to pass over Rogue River bridge at Grave Creek (Merlin Road becomes Galice Road after you pass through Merlin and then becomes Almeda Road).

After crossing the bridge, stay right at the spur for the Grave Creek Boat Ramp, and wind up for 4.3 miles to Y-junction.

Stay right here on Road 43-8-1 for 2.9 miles.

At a junction, keep left on a gravel road for Tucker Flat Camp, Glendale, Marial Lodge, Agness, and Powers, and go 2.4 miles.

Keep left at the junction with Road 32-8-35.2, and continue 5.1 miles.

At this junction, stay right on Road 32-7-19.3 (“To Coast”), and proceed 0.5 miles to a T-junction.

Turn left on paved Road 32-8-31, and drive 4.7 miles.

Stay left at a junction, and continue 0.2 miles to the signed junction for Marial and the Rogue River Ranch.

Turn left here, and drive southwest for 4.0 miles on Mule Creek-Marial Road (BLM road 32-9-142).

At a junction, keep left, and continue 7.6 miles, keeping to the main gravel road.

At the junction with Road 33-10-3, keep left again, and follow the road 3.1 miles, passing the Rogue River Ranch and the Tucker Flat Campground.

Parking for the Rogue River Trail is at the end of the road.

Description

Marial is the one car access point on the Rogue River Trail. A long gravel road gets you here, so there aren't too many people. Marial Lodge is here, but you'll need reservations to stay overnight. Just northeast of Marial is the Rogue River Ranch, which is on the National Historical Register of Historic Places. It is managed by the BLM, and the museum is open for visitors during the season, when there's also an emergency service. Near the Rogue River Ranch is the Tucker Flat Campground, a car camp with an outhouse and 10 sites. The Mule Creek South Trailhead at the campground begins the Wild Rogue Loop Hike.
