Description
This is part of the Historic Columbia River Highway Trail. Most of the old highway in this area was buried by the "water level" highway, now known as I-84, but miraculously the Moffett Creek Bridge was just north of the new highway alignment. Completed in 1915, the bridge is 205 feet long and was the longest three-hinged arch bridge in the United States when completed. A newer, wider bridge was completed in 1950 and this historic bridge languished in the blackberries until 2000 when a new bike path was built connecting this bridge with Tanner Creek, 1.6 miles to the east. In 2013, the section of the Historic Columbia River Highway State Trail from the bridge to the John B Yeon Trailhead was completed.
