Description
Moffitti Marsh is one of the small lakes along the Baskett Slough wetland in the Baskett Slough National Wildlife Refuge. All six of these lakes/marshes are named after different subspecies of Canada/cackling geese. From south to north, they are Vancouver Marsh, Cackler Marsh, Taverner’s Marsh, Parvipes Marsh, Moffitti Marsh, and, north of Smithfield Road, Aleutian Marsh. The Branta canadensis moffitti subspecies is the common large, lighter form of Canada goose that we see almost everywhere in West Coast lowlands.
