Description
At 65 acres, Monon Lake is the second-largest lake in the Olallie Lake Scenic Area. The lake has a contorted shoreline and is really a combination of three basins, the deepest one being the arm you hike by when coming from Olallie Lake. The water is generally very clear. The forest along Monon Lake's north shore was incinerated by an intense fire in 2001.
There are no campgrounds on Monon Lake. At the end of summer, there is great huckleberry harvesting to be done on the lake's east shore. You can fish for rainbow and brook trout here. The lake is encircled by the 2.7 mile Monon Lake Trail.
