Mount Tabor Summit

Description

The summit of Mount Tabor is a large grassy oval lined with huge Douglas-firs, and surrounded by a paved roadway. A few views are available of Mount Hood to the east and downtown Portland to the west.

Downhill on the northern flank of the summit is the exposed cinder cone. You can take a stroll inside it, or climb up above it and peer down. The volcano is considered extinct. No longer the site of eruptions, it has an amphitheater and a basketball court. Free concerts are held here on Thursday nights in July and August.
