Hike Description

This hike is located in the Santiam State Forest which is heavily managed for timber production. The arch was discovered in the 1950s after a wildfire scoured the hillside and removed the tree cover. From the Natural Arch Trailhead hike a steep half mile downhill to a spectacular rock arch. Although short, the trail is narrow and rocky, so it is not recommended for smaller children. You can find a scramble route to the top by going through the arch and walk uphill past a few small caves. Be careful! Combine this hike with a trip to nearby Rocky Top.
