Driving Directions
Drive I-5 south. Take Exit 253 for Highway 22 to Detroit Lake and Bend.
Turn left after exiting and drive 36.1 miles on Highway 22E, passing through Mill City and Gates, before making a left turn onto Niagara Heights Road SE (If you reach the turnoff for Niagara Park, you’ve gone 1/10th of a mile too far).
Drive up this gravel road, ignoring driveways to private property on the left and right. After entering the state forest, there will be many road junctions, but at each there is a small sign indicating the direction to Rocky Top and the Natural Rock Arch. There are also half-mile markers along this main gravel road. From Highway 22, it’s 6.2 miles to a sharp bend in the road and the signposted parking area on the right for the Natural Rock Arch.
Other Notes
The gravel road is steep, but should be manageable in a passenger vehicle in fair weather. The trailhead is usually inaccessible in the winter.
