Description

There are two trail junctions here, separated by about 1/10 of a mile. The Orchard Loop Trail makes a somewhat rounded square on the summit of Powell Butte and these trail junctions are on the west side of that trail. Both the Pioneer Orchard Trail and the Wild Hawthorn Trail lead downhill to about the same spot, but the trails take different routes. The Pioneer Orchard Trail is open to bicycles and the Wild Hawthorn Trail is open to horses. Both are open to hikers.
