Pacific Crest-Cascade Crest Trail South Junction

From Oregon Hikers Field Guide

The Cascade Crest Trail peeling off to the right (bobcat)

Description

This unmarked junction, barely discernible in the low blueberry bushes unless you know what you are looking for, is the southern meeting of the abandoned Cascade Crest Trail with the Pacific Crest Trail. It is 75 yards south of the Pacific Crest-Racetrack Shortcut Trail Junction. The Cascade Crest Trail takes a lower route than the PCT up to Tombstone Lake, passing two large meadows on the east side of Indian Heaven. Young conifers and berry bushes overgrow the trail at some points, especially close to this junction, and there are sections where the trail disappears under blowdown or can be confused with elk trails.
