Pacific Crest-Timberline Middle Trail Junction

Description

There are two great, historic, long distance trails on the western slopes of Mount Hood, the Pacific Crest Trail and the Timberline Trails. At times they are two trails, at times they are one.

This point marks the spot where the trails diverge heading north. The Timberline Trail takes a higher route toward Ramona Falls. The Crest Trail heads down the Sandy River to a lower crossing.

Signage, common usage and official maps all conflict in this area. To make matters worse, a lot of this area has been washed away in the November '06 floods. Maybe when the trails are rebuilt, things will be clearer.
