Regulations, Facilities, etc.

  • No fee (day use only)
  • Dogs on leash (because of the mesh wire tread on the upper half of the trail, this hike is not recommended for dogs)
  • Vault toilets, picnic area, information kiosk; no drinking water
  • Open dawn to dusk

Driving Directions

From the merger of Highway 217 with Highway 26, drive east on Highway 26 for 59.5 miles (44.4 miles past the turnoff for Highway 6 , Banks and Tillamook).

Turn right for Saddle Mountain State Natural Area. This narrow, bumpy two-lane road winds 7.2 miles up to a parking area. The trail is on the right side.
