Salmon River Viewpoint

From Oregon Hikers Field Guide

Looking from the viewpoint into the Salmon River Gorge (bobcat)

Description

A branch of the Salmon River Trail #742 leads around a hanging grassy meadow below palisades of volcanic rock. From here, you can look into the green depths of the Salmon River Gorge without seeing much of the river at all. You may be able to hear the roar of Final Falls and Frustration Falls. The area was burned in the first part of the 20th century, but the forest has grown up since then and the falls are no longer visible.

Just east of the viewpoint, a steep scramble trail leads down to Frustration Falls.
