Description
Sawtooth Mountain is the northernmost and oldest of Indian Heaven's volcanic peaks. Basalt from the vents here covered areas to the north about 250,000 years ago. Its jagged, weathered crest is also the most difficult to ascend and offers plenty of exposure as there is a 300-foot drop on the eastern side. The Sawtooth Trail #107 runs along the mountain's western slope and affords several views to different parts of the southern Washington Cascades.
