Hikes starting here

Driving Directions

From downtown Portland:

Take Highway 43 south to the Sellwood Bridge and turn left. This becomes Tacoma Street.

Drive 0.5 miles and turn left onto S.E. 7th Avenue.

Drive 0.3 miles on 7th and turn left into the parking area for Sellwood Park.

Other trailheads:

1. On S.E. Milwaukie Avenue one block south of McLoughlin Boulevard (the Oaks Bottom North Trailhead)

2. Sellwood Riverfront Park, S.E. Spokane Street & Oaks Parkway

Alternatives to Driving

Tri-met Bus #70 stops at SE Sellwood Boulevard and Knapp Street. Walk three blocks west on Sellwood to the southeast corner of Sellwood Park and find the trail leading down the bluff to the refuge.

Tri-met Bus #19 stops where SE Milwaukie Avenue intersects with the bike trail leading down to Oaks Bottom's North Meadow.

Other Notes

  • Park hours: 5:00 a.m. - midnight
  • Parking lot closed at 10:00 p.m.
  • Dogs on leash
