Description
Serene Lake is a beautiful deep blue 25-acre lake located in the upper basin of the South Fork Roaring River. It can be accessed by a moderate three-mile hike from the Frazier Trailhead. The lake is surrounded by steep forested hills on all sides and only has one outlet. There are plenty of campsites scattered around the lake, and a decent trail goes almost all the way around. Serene Lake is full of fish and has many great fishing holes at the south end. Also located at the south end of the lake is a very nice swimming hole with large rocks to jump from (The water is 25 feet deep there, so it is safe). It is a great place to relax and camp on a nice summer weekend although earlier in the summer there can be mosquitoes.
