Sunrise Camp

From Oregon Hikers Field Guide

Billy goat at Sunrise Camp (bobcat)

Description

Sunrise Camp is tucked in a saddle between the Ridge of Wonders and the ridge between the Mazama and Klickitat Glaciers. Scramble to a viewpoint and you can see down the latter, which you need to walk on to complete a loop around Mount Adams. Battlement Ridge, with the Spearhead, and Goat Butte loom to the north.

Mountain goats like to hang out here below the glacier and in wallows on the loose slopes of the Ridge of Wonders.

This is one of only two off-road designated camping areas in the Mt. Adams Recreation Area (Yakama Nation). (The other is at Avalanche Valley.) There are 15 campsites.
