Description
Tom Dick and Harry Mountain is the first mountain south of Mount Hood. It's really a two-mile-long craggy ridge with the high point at 5,066 feet on Tom Peak. The view from here includes Mount Hood, Timberline Lodge, Ski Bowl, Mirror Lake and, farther east, the Comerford Lakes directly below. Beyond Mount Hood, a clear day offers a vista to Mount Saint Helens, Mount Rainier, and Mount Adams. To the south, the view extends down the Cascade crest past Mount Jefferson. A path along the top of the ridge leads east to connect with ski trails and the top of Ski Bowl. From here, you can hike down to Ski Bowl and the Mirror Lake Trailhead and also hook up with the trail to Wind Lake.
(Note that for a few years, the route along the crest of the mountain was closed to protect nesting peregrine falcons, but that is no longer the case.)
