Driving Directions
Drive I-84 east and take Exit 44 for Cascade Locks and the Bridge of the Gods. After exiting, follow the road 0.4 miles and make a right for the Bridge of the Gods and Stevenson.
Follow this road round for 0.7 miles to cross the bridge ($3 toll) and reach Washington Highway 14.
Turn right here for Stevenson and Kennewick. Drive 5.9 miles, and turn left at a roundabout onto the Wind River Road for Carson and the Wind River Recreation Area.
Drive 14.5 miles, passing through Carson, to a junction where the Wind River Road makes a sharp right.
Keep straight here on Mineral Springs Road for 0.4 miles, then turn right onto gravel FR 5401 for the Trapper Creek Wilderness Trailhead.
It’s another 0.5 miles to the trailhead parking area.
Alternatives to Driving
On weekends from the beginning of May to mid-October, Gorge WET (West End Transit) runs a bus between Fisher's Landing Transit Center (Vancouver), Stevenson, and Carson that stops at the Dog Mountain Trailhead twice a day.
