Wauna Point

From Oregon Hikers Field Guide

Looking down the final pitch to Wauna Point on a surreal, wet and foggy day (Jim Siferle)
View east to Mount Adams, Cascade Locks, and the Bridge of the Gods from the end of the trail (Jerry Adams)

Description

There's a sign on the top of the ridge that reads "Wauna Point", but it's really a "wannabe" point.

From the junction with the Tanner Butte Trail, an unmaintained trail goes 1/2 mile to a viewpoint with some views obstructed by trees. The last 0.1 mile is primitive, traversing a steep slope. Many people would find this too difficult. You get a fairly good view east of the Columbia River Gorge, the Bridge of the Gods, Cascade Locks and Mount Adams. You get a glimpse through the trees of Bonneville Dam, Hamilton Mountain and Table Mountain.

The real point of interest is a scary, clifftop perch down below here. If you venture here, be careful. No, be very careful and very afraid. This is a gorgeous, yet dangerous place.
