Description
This log home was probably built by John Cole in the 1890s and was originally sited across Conboy Lake. It was moved to its current location near the Conboy Lake National Wildlife Refuge headquarters in 1987 and restored in subsequent years. A feature of the cabin is the separate kitchen, tacked on to the outside of the building in later years.
John Cole, who raised a large family in this house, purchased his land from Stephen Whitcomb, one of the original settlers in this area. The cabin is one of the oldest remaining buildings in this part of Washington.
