short plant; 9-19 dull, pointed leaflets on each stem Cascade Oregon Grape Berberis nervosa
5-9 shiny leaflets on each stem with sharp thorns Tall Oregon Grape Berberis aquifolium
5-7 dull, rounded leaflets with very soft thorns Trailing Oregon Grape Berberis repens
