Driving Directions
NOTICE: As per Oregon State Parks: "The I-84 Exit 58 offramp that leads to Mitchell Point Overlook and Mitchell Point Trailhead will be closed until 2023 while ODOT rebuilds the historic Mitchell Point Tunnel."
The Mitchell Point Trailhead can only be reached from eastbound Interstate 84.
From Portland:
Drive I-84 east to Exit 58 for the Mitchell Point Overlook.
Head uphill for 0.2 miles to the parking area for Lausmann State Park.
When leaving, one has to continue east on the freeway to Exit 62 for West Hood River for reentry westbound.
From Hood River:
Drive west to the Viento Exit 56; turn around here and head east to Exit 58.
