Driving Directions

This trailhead is located near Monon Lake and is an option if you want to do a shorter hike around that more secluded lake and avoid Olallie Lake.

Take Exit 12A on I-205 South for Clackamas and Estacada, Highway 212E and 224E.

Drive 3.3 miles and bear right for Carver and Estacada on 224E.

Go 14.9 miles, passing through Estacada, to the junction for 211S for Molalla.

From this junction, continue straight on Highway 224E for North Fork Lake. Drive 25.6 miles past the Ripplebrook Guard Station to a junction with FR 57 just past the bridge over the Oak Grove Fork.

Bear right here on FR 46 for Detroit and Bagby Hot Springs. Drive 21.8 miles and make a left turn onto FR 4690.

Go 8.2 miles (after 6.3 miles the road becomes gravel) to a junction and go right on FR 4220 (Skyline Road) for Olallie Lake.

Pass through an open gate and drive 5.2 miles on corrugated gravel to a junction at Olallie Lake.

Go right here (Keeping left takes you to the resort and a campground), pass the Olallie Lake Day-use Area, and drive 1.6 miles, keeping on FR 4220, to a pullout on the left with a sign for the Monon Lake Trail #729.

Fees / Regulations

  • Dogs on leash around the lakes.
  • No swimming by human or canine in Olallie Lake
